The University is seeking nominations for the award of Honorary Doctoral Degrees for future degree ceremonies.
Nominations may be submitted by current University staff, current students, members of University Council, HUSU sabbatical officers and University alumni.
Honorary doctoral degrees recognise exceptional and outstanding personal achievement, stature and distinction of individuals. Recipients should be considered to be worthy of the award by the University’s stakeholder community, experts in the field and the informed public. Recipients should serve as an inspiration and as role models for others and be able to form a continuing relationship with the University as an ambassador, promoting its image and interests.
Candidates for honorary doctoral degrees will be considered against the following criteria, and will be expected to have strong evidence in at least one area:
- Demonstrated achievement of academic excellence and scholarship in a field of interest to the University
- An exceptional contribution to health, education, science, public service and interest, business as well as arts, music, culture and sport
- An outstanding record of contribution to the University or its communities
We are particularly seeking nominations that reflect the diversity of the members of the University and its alumni, that cover the wide spectrum of academic disciplines taught and that reflect the University’s global engagement.
Please can you share this information with members of your Faculty, as we are keen to ensure that there is a minimum of one nomination from each area.
The deadline is 30 September 2024.
