We are back for our first major event post-pandemic and we have a lot to celebrate! The University of Hull is making great strides forward, our high-achieving alumni community continues to punch above its weight, and we want to give you the chance to get together for an evening of entertainment, food, socialising, and the chance to hear some of the ways we continue to Raise Hull.
We’ll be joined by current Vice-Chancellor Professor Susan Lea in one of her last public appearances before she departs Hull in the Summer – so this will be your chance to hear her thoughts on five hugely transformative years at the helm of our university.
To encourage guests to socialise and get to know each other, we have planned a facilitated conversation that will provide you with an opportunity to respond to key societal challenges. Led by colleagues from the Wilberforce Institute, you will have the opportunity to be guided through a series of scenarios and questions highlighting the legal, ethical and human dimensions of tackling modern slavery.
Always eager to showcase our amazing student talent, we’re delighted to be joined on the evening by Imogen Hart – a singer-songwriter who will be sharing with us some of her own material, some covers and perhaps some songs you may associate strongly with Hull!
The exceptional venue for all of this will be our academic partner, the Institute of Engineering and Technology on Savoy Place in London. Before we enter the Maxwell Library for dinner, we’ll be receiving guests in the foyer area where you can you can see the brilliant exhibition of 100 Engineering Objects that Changed the World.

Anna,
Andy Trotman has forwarded this message. I must confess to ignorance of the Hull Alumni Association although I am a graduate of the vintage year of 69. A subsequent journey through the labyrinth of higher education to a Vice Chancellorship, more importantly playing in a band assembled in Hull in 1968. I should be delighted to attend the event on the 28th July.

Humberjug ?
Great band for the uninitiated.
Ed Bicknell ( who was in another band, same time).

I remember Humberjug but a number of my contemporaries think I am imagining it!!

Duncan,
As a former member of ‘Humberjug’ I can assure you of its existence, albeit some 50 years plus ago. Ancient copies of ‘Torchlight’ will testify and a curious website in Germany provides access to recordings of the band.
