We are excited to announce that on Thursday 9th November we will be hosting An Audience with the Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson. Alan will be sharing fascinating stories from his life and career in his first lecture since joining the University of Hull as Chancellor earlier this year.
The Chancellor has enjoyed an exceptional career in British politics, having served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2004 to 2005, and as President of the Board of Trade from 2005 to 2006. He was Secretary of State for Health from 2007 to 2009, Home Secretary from 2009 to 2010, and Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2010 to 2011.
He has also authored three prize-winning memoirs and two successful thrillers with a third due to be published next March. Since 2017, he has been the independent Chair of Citycare, a public-private partnership between the NHS and Sewell Group which built and maintains the 15 Health Centres in Hull.
We do hope that you will be able to join us for a really fascinating evening that promises to provide eye-opening insights into British governance and policy, and memorable anecdotes from his life and award-winning books. Guests will also have the opportunity to submit a question prior to the event for inclusion on the evening.

Hi Anthony. It’ll be on YouTube and I’ll publish it on here, too. If you get the alumni newsletter that is the easiest way to make sure you don’t miss anything.
