On 22 December 2018, 17 alumni and students of the University of Hull met in Bahrain for a Reunion Event aimed at Hull graduates and students living in the Gulf States. The meeting was brought together by Mohammed Isa via a WhatsApp group and other social media channels.
The event itself was organised by a committee of volunteers including Mohamed Isa, Kalil Saleh, Olena Sokova, Mohamed Awais and Talal Sabt with marketing support from Hameed Karimi of MDCI (The University of Hull’s agent in the region).
The group met in the “Darseen Cafe” at the National Museum of Bahrain for a traditional Bahraini breakfast and were addressed by Mohammed Isa who set out his vision for the group as a vehicle for:
- Increasing communication among graduates
- Supporting employment opportunities for Hull graduates in the region
- Partnering in business ventures
- Creating greater awareness of the University of Hull in the region
To build on the momentum created by the event and to advance the vision for the group, further meetings are planned for February 2019 in Oman and in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia before the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
