He’s been involved in some of the most iconic British television shows of recent times and now Politics graduate Andy Harries is coming back to where it all started to share with us his Inspired in Hull story. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to hear from a Hull graduate who is one of the most important figures in the British Film and Television industry today.
Join us on campus in the fantastic Middleton Hall to hear from the man who, as Controller of Drama, Comedy and Film for Granada Productions, changed the face of UK television with shows including The Mrs Merton Show, The Royle Family, Prime Suspect, Cold Feet and The Queen.
Today Andy is still working at the cutting edge of contemporary drama having co-founded a new production company, Left Bank Pictures, where he continues to produce top-quality drama and film, titles included Wallander, The Damned United and, more recently, Golden Globe winning The Crown.

We are delighted to be bringing our popular alumni lecture series ‘Inspired in Hull’ back in style this autumn with a talk from one of our most inspiring alumni. Andy has been working at the cutting edge of film and television for over three decades, so we do hope you’ll join him as he returns to the place where it all started.
Following Andy’s lecture, we’ll be welcoming historian, author and broadcaster Tracy Borman onto campus on Tuesday 1st November (booking is now open here).
