Calling all Drama Alumni: Our Current Drama Students Need You

Friends, colleagues, alumni, lend us your… experience!

The Gulbenkian Careers and Employability Festival
2 – 4 November 2018 | Gulbenkian Centre | University of Hull

On the first weekend of November, the Drama Department will be holding the third annual Gulbenkian Festival – a gathering of former, current and even prospective students of Drama at Hull. We are calling all friends to come back to the Department, to meet old friends, see work by current students, and to share your experience of life as a Hull Drama graduate, whatever area you have worked in.

Drama graduates are equipped with malleable and highly transferable skills. Your professional experience is evidence of this versatility; passing on your knowledge and experience is invaluable and inspiring. You can choose whatever format you feel is most effective for communicating your experiences: a workshop, a talk, one-on-one sessions, or whatever you feel appropriate. Please send us your suggestion(s) for a session, along with a short bio of no more than 50 words, and let us know when you will be available, and we will get in touch with more details.

Everyone is welcome to attend with no obligation to offer a session. You can moderate the discussion at a session, or just come back to see the work of current students, take a tour of the department or campus, or attend some of the social events. We hope that this will be a fun, work-and-social event that will be enjoyable and useful for everyone.

If you would like to get involved, please contact the organisers Pavel Drabek, Professor of Drama and Theatre Practice, and Tom Atkinson, Drama Class of 1976 on p.drabek@hull.ac.uk

  1. I would be delighted to give a talk or do a workshop on career paths in film & tv to the current drama students at my alma mater. After nearly 50 years in the business as a critic, producer and screenwriter I’d value the opportunity to pass on some thoughts, anecdotes and wisdoms to those students who are thinking of making the next move. Please suggest me a date/time during the event and I will incorporate that into my UK schedule as I now live and work in France. You can google me on IMDb for reference.
    Thanks, Martyn
