You’ll be assigned to a team and, with the help of alumni entrepreneurs, tasked with developing a concept for a project or product that uses the potential of space to address one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the day there will be micro-talks on various aspects of project development – from team building to tech trends, marketing to finance. Importantly we’ll also provide you with tips on product and service development to help you build your idea.
No prior knowledge is required – this is supposed to be a fun day in which we’ll help you build and understand your professional skills and knowledge. At the end of the day your team will have the opportunity to pitch your ideas and have the chance to win a cash prize.

Schedule for the day
09:00 – Welcome and networking. You will be welcomed with refreshments and assigned to a team.
09:30 – Icebreaker. We will do an icebreaking task with teams so that you can get to know the people you’ll be working with throughout the day.
10:00 – Welcome Josh Western. We will introduce everyone to Josh Western, CEO of Space Forge. Josh will tell us a bit about himself and his company and will pose the challenge to the team.
10:30 – Tech Trends and Social and Ethical Business. To help get you started, we’ll have a short discussion about tech trends and what makes an ethical business. You’ll have a chance to discuss in your teams your approach to the challenge.
12:00 – Product and service development. A short talk on how to develop a product or a service from a graduate who has been there, seen it and done it.
12:15 – Teams develop their product or service. This is where you can take your fantasy idea to the next level and turn it into a concept for a product or a service.
13:00 – Lunch Break
14:00 – Marketing. We’ll have a graduate with a track record in marketing give you a short talk on the best ways to market your new product or service.
14:15 – Teamwork on marketing. Your team will have a chance to discuss how you take the product or service you have devised and tell the public about it.
15:00 – Flapjack and Finance. Another short talk from a graduate on how you might go about funding your product and pricing it for the market. We know that finance isn’t for everyone – so to help you through this bit, we’ll be serving flapjack to boost your energy levels while you discuss as a team how to finance and price your product or service.
16:00 – Pitching Planning: What makes a good pitch? A graduate will give you a micro presentation on how to pitch.
16:15 – Time to work on pitches. This is where you will prepare your pitch to our panel of graduates.
17:00 – Pitching Competition and awards. There will be cash prizes for the two best pitches.
18:00 – A Glass of wine/orange juice and celebrations
18:30 – Close
